And We're Off...Our First Day Of This Season!
We had our first day at Hargham & Quidenham on Monday 12th September. what a great time was had by all with some fantastic Norfolk Partridges in that wild & windy weather. It really was the windiest day we've had since we started running the shoots. The Partridges were just like rockets...what a way to start the new season!
Talking tactics...where should we go today?

There was a lot of kissing going on at coffee time!

You know the feeling...will I get
the first bird of the day?
The people we simply couldn't do without!!

As usual, every single hot sausage
went...in about three minutes!
Despite the incredible winds the
guns started shooting well
Already had a glass of wine!

A super lunch of roast rib of beef and Yorkshire pudding!!

The guns had 215 shots on that drive...
don't ask the shoot to kill ratio though!!

These birds were going like stink!!
These birds were high........and very very fast!"
Getting The Fleet Ready For The Season

Now All The Birds Are Out Every Vehicle Is Pressed Into Action

As I'm sure you are aware, it's feeding, feeding and more feeding at the moment. Even our tractor is used to carry feed to the keepers.
Wild Geese On Eccles Carr
.
As well as duck flighting, this season we’ll be shooting wild geese on Eccles Carr. We haven’t shot geese on the Estate for many years but this year we’ve invested in preparing access ways to take you right up to the water’s edge.

As a good duck (and goose!) flight is so dependent on the right weather conditions, we don’t fix our dates for these very far in advance. Instead we constantly review the weather forecasts and if we see the likelihood of a cloudy night with some high wind, we will contact everyone who has joined our Duck Club by email or text and let them know what’s on, when and how much and then places will be allocated to Guns on a first come, first served basis.

If you would like to join the Duck Club please click here.

Evening Duck Flighting
.
This year we have some great ponds where we only have wild duck. We feed them daily and there is some great evening flighting available.

These high ducks were photographed last week. If you want a taste of this fantastic sport and want to join our duck club, click here to visit the duck section of our web site. Or call Philip on 07802 546175.

Game To Cook
We are now supplying a range of venison joints including saddles and haunches plus steaks and venison sausages.

If you would like to receive details of our meat products, click here.

.
Red Stags
We have had a great few weeks stalking with the roe bucks. Lots of deer were seen, some of which were really good quality animals. However, it’s now time for the reds. We are expecting to see reds on the Quidenham Estate by the middle to end of September.

If you are interested in a big red, a spikes, or even one of the many muntjac we have on the Estate too, please contact Philip Milburn on 07802 546175 or click here to send an email. Dates are offered on a first come, first served basis and we expect demand to be high so early booking might be best!

Ladies' Day - Thursday 6th October 2011 - ONLY ONE PEG REMAINING!
This year, Ladies' Day will be held at our Hargham & Quidenham Estates, which are just off the A11 at Attleborough. We shoot nine Guns and there is a special price of £425.00 which includes the VAT. It is intended to be a 150 bird day, but the price is fixed regardless of the bag. We will provide the transport between the drives and we will also have stuffers/instructors to assist you if you would like. There would be an additional cost of £35.00 which is paid direct to the stuffer/instructor. The day will start at about 8.45am, a short briefing will take place and then we will head off for the first drive. We normally have two drives and then stop for elevenses in the field. We will then carry on for two more drives before heading back to the lunch hut for lunch. Depending on how the morning goes, there will be a further two more drives in the afternoon before heading back to the lunch hut for cream teas. Each Gun will leave with a goody bag. This day is intended to be a fun day with no pressure at all, so come on ladies! Join us for a fantastic day's shooting in the Norfolk countryside.

Ladies' Day Menu
· Tea/Coffee upon arrival with homemade shortbread
· Elevenses, consisting of champagne, sloe gin and canapés
· Poached Salmon with new potatoes and salad
· Raspberry cheesecake
· Cream tea with scones

Hammer Gun Day - Saturday 15th October 2011
Every year in the past we have had one or more hammer gun days on our estates. This year as usual, we had a few people who expressed an interest in another hammer gun day during the coming 2011/2012 season. Following the CLA Game Fair, we think we now have enough for a team of nine Guns and we are asking people of they would like to join. The cost is £460 (including VAT) per Gun regardless of the bag, but we anticipate 150 birds. Several Guns have offered to lend us some great English Hammer guns, so even if you don't own one yourself but want to experience something really different just contact Linda. Three spaces still to sell!

Parent and Child Day 2 - Monday 19th December 2011
Our first Parent and Child Day sold out a month ago. However we have continued to have enquiries so we have decided to open up another day in this format. Hosting is for five parents and five young shots at our Great Hockham Shoot. Only two parent and child spaces to go on this second day.

To make a booking please contact Linda: 07717 716505 or click here to send an email.

The Birds Are Looking Great
The birds are out. What drives some of these are going to be! It was simply a cloud of birds...just too many birds to count!
Cover Crops Are Looking Fantastic
The cover crops really are the best we have had. Just look at the height in some of these photos.
Doesn't it almost make your mouth water to imagine the birds flying high out of that cover!!
Just look at that cover crop!

What a great block of cover!
