OCTOBER 2011 NEWSLETTER - OFF TO A FLYING START!
A Great September...
What a first month of the season! We started on September 12th, in the teeth of a hurricane. The last day was September 30th, one of the hottest September days since records began.
However, our keepers and their teams pulled out all the stops and some fantastic shooting was had by all, even in those sizzling high 80 degree temperatures.
I think the following comments from some of our Guns says it all:

Another Article in Shooting Times Magazine
We were pleased to have a Shooting Times staff member with us on Saturday 1st October. They wanted an article on Norfolk partridges, and also the start of the pheasant season. What a day to come...it was 29 degrees by mid afternoon!! Absolutely not the ideal conditions for shooting, but we did end up having a really good day's shooting, with a lot of credit to Danny Burrows, who was the keeper that day, and his team of beaters and pickers-up. The Met office said that it was the hottest October day since records began. The Guns even took the canvas sides off the lorry to have a bit of "aircon". The full article with photos will be in Shooting Times in a couple of weeks.

The Back Office
I guess most of you are unaware that we have an office where Linda and her support staff keep the wheels turning at MG&S. You can imagine the logistical nightmare of getting everyone to their right pegs on the correct day. Sort out the catering, the invoicing etc. So, a big thank you to Linda, Heidi and Brigitte. (You can just see Henry on the floor supervising).
Duck Flighting Will Start Soon
This Indian summer can't last forever can it!!! Once we start to get some wind and cloud we will be starting our duck flighting again. This year we have some great ponds where we only have wild duck. We feed them daily and there is some great evening flighting available.
