Linda Calling!
Our shoot days are still selling well. Let me give you a few highlights:
Novice Day
If you are interested in a peg on our Novice Day, do call me soon! Included in the price we have a number of stuffers/instructors available to give all novices help, guidance and safety tips.
If you are a novice or inexperienced Gun and you want to develop your interest in game shooting, then this is the day for you.
The Parent and Child day is now sold out, but we still have three pegs on the Novice Day on Saturday the 29th of October 2011. If you are new to shooting and want to experience what it's like to shoot on a proper driven day, book one of the last spaces now. Call Linda on 0771 771 6505 or click here to receive more details by email.
 Ladies' Day
Last year we allocated a day for the ladies but we only had three people interested so we had to cancel. Surely there must be nine ladies out there who want to come and have a great day's shooting with the girls! On offer will be free champagne and a free goody bag to every lady shooting.
If you are a novice we will provide stuffers/ instructors, so why not have a go. I'll even shoot myself that day! If you are interested click here. If we get enough people interested I can sort out a date to suit.
Hammer Gun Day
Last year we had two Hammer Gun Days and both sold out. Hammer guns are great fun and it's great to see so many fantastic old English Hammer guns. If you don't have a Hammer gun, then we can hire you (at a very reasonable price) some really good old English Hammer guns. Do something different! Click here for information by email. |

The Eggs Have Started Coming
We are already collecting hundreds of eggs per day now. We start setting next week so we will have some strong early pheasants...even by early October! |

New Apprentice Started
After three seasons on the beating line, Elliot Jackson has recently started a formal gamekeeping apprenticeship with MG&S based at Hargham. Elliot was introduced to shoot life by his mum, Tara, who used to assist us with bookings and administration. Elliot commented "I'm delighted to be able to start my career in gamekeeping under the guidance of Robert at Hargham. I really look forward to learning a lot from him, Danny and the rest of the team there. Although I have only just started, I've already got a number of duties and my knowledge is growing by the day. I'm looking forward to the hatching and being able to follow the birds through the Game Farm to release".
MG&S are pleased to support the sport of future of shooting by both of encouraging young Guns and helping to train a new generation of keepers. We wish Elliot well in his new position.

Opening Up Some New Drives
Due to the movement of some outside pigs we will have five new drives around the woods at Narford this year. Also at Narford, we have extra cover crops at our two finest drives, Finger Hill and Wash Pits. Extra cover around Eye trap should give us some great shooting here too.
At Great Hockham, we have re-arranged several drives as well and put cover down again at Little Hockham Lane. This drive has not been used for two years so we are excited about shooting here again. |
Narford Dog Wins Award
Sue and Steve Knight have been picking up at our Narford Hall shoot for two years. They have two black labs, Quincey and Roydon. Quincey won the Malmesbury Trophy for Best Labrador Dog in 2009. He also came 5th in the BASC Gamekeeper ring in 2010 in AV Gundog (restricted to retired gamekeepers) and actually won the trophy at Crufts this year, 2011. Well done to Sue and Steve. We look forward to seeing Quincey and Roydon again picking up at Narford this coming season.
