June 2010 NEWSLETTER
NEWS FROM THE GAME FARM

With little over two months to go before the start of the season, we are well advanced with our preparations. Activity has been frenzied to say the least at the Game Farm with another batch of pens having been built along with extensions added to others. We have also erected extensive new pens at Narford as can be seen in these pictures. The birds meantime are thriving - growing rapidly and proving to be a strong and robust bunch.

DAY OLDS & PHEASANT POULTS FOR SALE

Such is the success of the Game Farm, that we have extra birds available for sale. Good quality, robust and healthy day olds and poults of 6/7 weeks will be available until late August. Prospective purchasers are welcome to visit the Game Farm to view our facilities and birds.

FREE delivery in Norfolk and Suffolk and deliveries can be arranged elsewhere subject to an additional charge. If you or any of your contacts might be interested, please call Philip Milburn on 07802 546175 for further information or to arrange a visit.

GAME TO COOK

Following the great success of our venison sausage tastings at the East Anglian Game & Country Fair, we are stepping up a gear and are now finalising our plans for the meat processing, ordering procedures and shipping arrangements so we can offer a speedy and hassle free nationwide on-line and telephone service to our customers. In addition to a range of plain and flavoured sausages, we’ll be offering venison joints, haunches, shoulders, loin stakes and diced venison. During the shooting season we’ll also be offering oven ready birds. Click here if you would like to sign up to receive details of our meat products when available.

DUCK FLIGHTING

A really successful duck flight needs the right conditions and often we simply don’t know these until very near to the day. We are therefore starting a “Late Notice Flighting List” whereby we will contact you once we’re confident conditions are right and giving you the date/s of a proposed flight so you can join us if you are able. If you are interested in joining this list, please click here to visit our website and register your details.

SPECIAL DAYS

Every day with us is a special day but we’ve some extra special days planned for this season!

Parent and Child Day on Saturday 16 October at the Quidenham & Hargham Estates Shoot. Four teams of a parent and child will make up a line of 8 Guns and fight the battle of the ages! This will be a fully catered day based on a minimum charge of 150 birds. Some places have already been booked so please contact us for further details if you would like to join the day.

Ladies Day will be held on Tuesday 19 October at the Quidenham & Hargham Estates Shoot. This will be a fun fully catered 120-150 bird day at a fixed price of £395 including VAT per peg for a total of 9 ladies.

Novice Day is on the Banham land of the Quidenham & Hargham Estates Shoot and will take place on Saturday 20 November. We will supply supervision and guidance for the Guns and we’ll endeavour to get 100-140 birds. The day is offered at a fixed price of £352.50 per peg including VAT and will include catering of coffee, elevenses, a light lunch and tea and cake after shooting. A terrific way to get experience and pick up some tips.

DON’T FORGET, THERE’S STALKING TOO

Don’t forget we offer deer stalking on the Quidenham Estate. We have 5,000 acres of prime land close to Thetford Forest with an abundance of muntjac, roe and red deer including trophy and representative heads. The roe bucks will be rutting in the last two weeks of July and the beginning of August making it a really exciting time to hunt. For those trophy shooters amongst you, we generally see the Red Stags starting to come onto the Estate from August on.

We also have a Special Offer on at present - No second deer cull fee for all bookings made before 31 August 2010 (female muntjacs and roe deer only - not red deer). Please contact us for further details and prices.

CLA GAME FAIR

We will be sharing a stand with Guns On Pegs at the 2010 CLA Game Fair to be held at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire on 23 – 25 July. For further details on this great event, please be sure to visit the Game Fair site at http://www.gamefair.co.uk/. If you are attending, please come along and see us to discuss your shooting requirements.

COUNTRYSIDE ALLIANCE FOUNDATION

One of our Guns, David Clover, is bravely trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro in September to raise money for the Countryside Alliance Foundation (registered charity 1121034). If you would like to support David and this really worthwhile cause, the easiest way to sponsor him is on-line by clicking here. We wish David well and look forward to hearing how he did when he joins us to shoot later on in the season.

HOW ARE WE DOING?

We strive to improve what we do for our customers constantly. It would really help us if we could have some feedback on how we’re doing and what we could do better. So, if you have any thoughts or observations on where improvements could be made to say, how and what we communicate to customers, our shoot days, our website or any other areas, please feel free to contact Philip Milburn on 07802 546175 or via philip.milburn@btconnect.com.
