Game Farm on the Hargham Estates

Shortly after the shooting season ends on 31 January, work starts on preparing for the next season. Pheasants and partridges are caught up from the Estates and brought to our newly constructed game farm on the Hargham Estate. There, eggs are collected and hatched in incubators.

Once hatched, the chicks are placed into pens where they are fed and watered until big enough to be moved to release pens in the field. After a period of further care and growth, they are set loose on the Hargham Estate. Notwithstanding the fact they are now wild, we continue to tend for them by providing good cover to roost in, water and feed. They therefore do not stray far and are available when needed.

We built the game farm in 2009 and usually raise around 110,000 birds ready for the start of the season, making it one of the largest game farms in the county.
